Aletia Martin: Up your Marketing Game to Propel Business

Whether you intend to launch a small business or already own one, a successful marketing strategy is essential to act as a driving force behind the venture. In this age of the digital boom, there is more to marketing than simply spamming the inboxes of people with newsletters or paying to stay high up in search engine query results. The world has changed, and consumer habits have also changed with it. They are no longer dazzled by the glitter of unnecessary sales pitches; rather, they look for reassurance that a business whose services they seek understands their unique needs. Business owners do not necessarily have the required understanding of the mechanism behind online marketing. Hence, an experienced, tech-savvy digital marketing consultant is critical to formulating and implementing robust strategies for specific target audiences. A seasoned business marketing professional with over 15 years of experience, Aletia Martin, founder of ABM Marketing, helps small and mid-sized businesses develop strategic and creative solutions for optimal sales and business growth.

Experienced Marketing Professional

Hailing from South Louisiana, Aletia pursued a degree in business administration from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, previously known as USL. Early in her career in Atlanta, she held various positions that ranged from office manager to auditor and property manager. Working with diverse industries across different verticals laid the foundation for Aletia to understand the nuances associated with small and large businesses. After she moved to Virginia with her family in 2008, Aletia found her true calling in marketing with stints at R2R Associates as the director of member services and at the Daily Press as a multimedia account executive, helping her understand how fulfilling it was to help clients achieve their business goals.

What put the cherry on the icing of her professional career was working for a period of nine years for GovEvents, a government events portal and boutique business-to-government marketing company. She started as a program manager and went on to become the marketing manager and then Director of Marketing during her tenure, also helping the company take its revenue from $250,000 to over $1,000,000 annually. Aletia now knew that she was ready to take on the entrepreneurial world heads on.

Perfect Branding with ABM Marketing

In January 2022, Aletia took the leap of faith toward entrepreneurship and started ABM Marketing, a digital marketing firm. Her vast marketing experience was put to good use as in less than a year, her company grew at a fast pace, where she offered service-based businesses and e-commerce start-ups the products that helped them connect and engage with their clients in meaningful ways. Her selfless intent to help people and her passion for marketing is unmatched as she grows from strength to strength with ABM Marketing.

The services offered by the company include Digital and Online Marketing, Social Media Content Development and Management, SEO Review and Management, and Full-Service Outsourced Marketing. Aletia and her team follow a full-proof approach to ensure the clients receive optimum services catered to their needs and desires. The company takes the time to do an initial assessment and find out what’s working for the client and what’s not, what their goals and visions are for the growth of the business, and what their target market is. Based on the initial research, the team moves on to find out more about the business’s products and services, including its competitors and demographics, to craft custom solutions and an actionable digital marketing plan. With smarter marketing and growth strategies, the clients can expect their businesses to have a wider reach, ultimately helping them inch closer to their goals.

Cashing in on 21st Century Digital Boom

Aletia believes all businesses need to capitalize on their digital marketing to thrive and succeed in this competitive world. “If you are doing what you are supposed to do and still not seeing the desired results, then something is wrong. Think about what else you can offer that is different from your competitors to stay ahead in the game,” she says.

On her part, Aletia is constantly evolving along with the changing dynamics of the marketplace. Coming to leveraging the digital space for one’s business, she feels they should have a good web presence, including a user-friendly website that is updated and optimized to work across platforms and service providers.

Also, curating a good social media presence will help businesses stand out, such as having a YouTube page and putting out reels and TikToks that can have a significant impact. With the right mix, catching organic eyeballs will be easy and help the business grow. One just needs the right person to partner with to help make your presence felt in the digital space. Digital marketing for small businesses can get tricky, but it gets easier with the right approach and tools. Aletia advises the owners of small businesses to know their competitors well and know what they are up to and then, do better than them. “Look at what aspect of your business brings you joy and what brings you profit. If you are spending your time focusing on small jobs that might pay your bills but do not get you profit, then you need to consider going for jobs with higher value,” Aletia adds.

Face Adversities with Strong Resolve

Many small entrepreneurs do not go into business to become marketers, but they do understand and acknowledge the importance of digital marketing for the growth and success of their venture. From building a web presence that takes the business forward to understanding the latest social media buzz, a digital marketing expert can lead you to the right path. Aletia knows the struggles of small business owners, and she urges them not to be afraid to walk away from bad situations. Not all clients will be perfect fits for every business, so one needs to know when to walk away from an opportunity that does not serve you well.

For women who want to become entrepreneurs, Aletia suggests they be fearless and just go for it. “Believe in yourself and find your tribe who believes in you and can help lift you up during those bad days, which is part and parcel of it all. Do not let that little voice in your head tell you not to take up something. Also, start networking to surround yourself with other businesswomen who can help you with their experiences and vice versa,” Aletia advises.
