Human development is a lifelong process of physical, behavioral, cognitive, and emotional growth and change. Emphasis on spiritual development is needed now more than ever as it changes our perspective toward the world and helps us live more consciously and mindfully. It is a highly empowering tool, and educating people on how to put this to good use is Dr. Tiffany Alston Little, a highly sought-after empowerment specialist, thought leader, and advocate for educational and spiritual growth.
Educational and Spiritual Inclinations
Dr. Tiffany has a rich educational background that aids the amazing work that she is doing in the field of education and ministry. Daughter of Rev. Jesse and Janice Alston of Mebane, NC, she has a doctorate in Educational Leadership and Superintendence from Wingate University, Wingate, NC. After realizing that she had a dual call to both education and ministry, she became a Certified Lay Minister of the United Methodist Church in 2018 and became ordained through the Charlotte Metro District Board of Ordained Ministries in April 2019.
Dr. Tiffany has also served as a District Level Administrator, High School Principal, and English Teacher in both Charlotte-Mecklenburg and Buncombe County School districts. With her adherence to solid Biblical principles and background in educational leadership, she translates powerful spiritual truth into everyday language that empowers individuals to transform their lives and work towards the betterment of their communities.
Empowering Lives Through Music
They say that music heals the soul and brings people together, which holds true for Dr. Tiffany and her husband, Fernando G. Little. They bonded over their love for music, got married, and have been a part of the ministry since. Together, they organize The Youth Gospel Explosion Conference, an annual convocation that brings together Gospel music lovers from a wide range of denominations and faiths from all over the Carolinas. The duo has also produced and published two professional gospel music recordings under the umbrella of Tiffany A. Little Publishing Company.
Dr. Tiffany wanted to take her love for music a step further and extend it to programming. Over the years, she realized that the educational experience of minority and low socio-economic students in the US was far from being equal to that of others. She believed that these issues could be solved by bringing everyone together and working with caring individuals who are passionate about providing effective programming. With this intent, she founded “Composing Minds, Inc.”, an independent non-profit organization. The mission behind it is simple: foster the social, academic, and talent development of young people through programming designed to educate, motivate, and empower. Dr. Tiffany wants to give everyone a place at the table and help them feel welcome to voice their opinions, and with her non-profit organization, she intends to do just that.
Instilling Hope During Tough Times
Dr. Tiffany does some phenomenal work with the ministry. She currently serves as the Associate Minister and Director of Choirs at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, Charlotte, NC. In her role, she helps in pastoral care and leads Stephen’s Ministry. Her work involves training other Christian men and women to provide one-on-one care to people who are going through tough times in life. She is also the Director of Choirs with the Music and Church Arts Ministry and assists her husband, who serves there as the Minister of Music.
Dr. Tiffany wants women to start thinking and praying about what God desires for their life. She wants them to think about what they sincerely want to do and desire. As a person of faith, Dr. Tiffany finds it easier to do what she does in life with God, aligning her heart’s desires with what He wants her to do. And that makes the road so much easier for her “since it is guided by Him.”
Dr. Tiffany has a conference and a book release coming up in 2023, but she does not have everything in place yet. But she has given herself permission to believe that what she is doing at the moment to work towards her goals is enough. “God does not ask you to report back on what and how you did the previous day. And that thought will fetch an unbelievable kind of freedom and relief that will push you in a healthy manner,” Tiffany believes.
Using the Power of Words to Service God
We all face struggles in life and at times, multiple adversities hit us all at once and make life tough. Dr. Tiffany believes that when this happens, God sends people into our lives to remind us of what He can and will do for us. In her book, “My Praise is Greater Than My Struggle”, she shares how God blessed her with such special people to establish relationships with her and guide her, through their actions and ways to attack life’s most difficult times with the power of praise.
She believes that God heals, restores, and renews but facing trials and tribulations in life made her realize the need for someone to reinstate that faith in her. Her book highlights those people who showed her the path to move past her struggles and get to her praise. “Discover how to best access your ability to praise the Lord even amid your life’s challenges. Learn the biblical principles that will help you most in your humbling and difficult times,” she says. Her message through her book and songs brings fresh perspective, dignity, and hope to a global audience and wishes to extend help to the needy, compassion to the hurting, and empowerment to the oppressed as that, she believes, is her true purpose on this planet.
