How to Become an Empowered Businesswoman

How to Become an Empowered Businesswoman

There are two ways of becoming an empowered businesswoman. First, sit and wait for someone to empower you, and the second is to take the bull by the horns and take action to empower yourself. According to a report on the Status of Women in the United States, while women own just 30 percent of small businesses in the country, many are still not ready to take the bull by the horn and empower themselves. Many women still believe that empowerment is something that someone will hand it over to them on a platter.

So, the moot question is what women entrepreneurs need to do to boost their level of empowerment? And, how to accomplish their professional goals? In fact, there are six simple ways to achieve this, and we shall discuss them briefly in this article.

Recognize your skills:

First, it is essential for women entrepreneurs to recognize the knowledge and skills they lack. Once they identify these issues, women need to find the tools and resources to increase their proficiency. However, this will require a commitment to assess one’s strengths and weaknesses honestly. Once they have done this, women entrepreneurs need to read books and blogs, attend webinars, and conferences, listen to podcasts and seek mentors and other resources that would facilitate them to speed up the journey towards their goal.

Align with positive people:

For women or even men, to become successful, they need to personally and professionally align themselves with positive people. Associating with positive people affects their morale and motivation and encourages them to reach their professional potential. Being with negative people will only drain one’s energy and enthusiasm. Negative people only work to deplete your confidence level, and you often feel defeated when negative people criticize you and your efforts. Therefore, it is essential to have minimal contact with such people so that you may have more and more positive people around you as they will care about you and encourage you to achieve more in your life.

Meeting successful people:

Another way to empower yourself is to meet successful people who emanate empowerment and ask them if they would share their vision of attaining high levels of self-confidence. People who are empowered themselves are very amiable and open to sharing how they helped themselves reach their goals. It is advisable that women entrepreneurs, especially those about to begin their venture or have just started their business, should reach out to successful and empowered people for inspiration . Their approach may not always be feasible for you, but undoubtedly interacting with them will give you loads of ideas and a huge inspiration to carry your mission forward.

Begin your day with gratitude:

If you desire to be empowered, it is essential to begin your day on a note of appreciation. Make it a point to devote a few minutes every day to think about everything for which you are thankful intentionally. There can be nothing better than getting a positive start every day. Doing this on a regular basis will immediately put you in the right state of mind to deal with whatever life and work may bring your way. It is also very gratifying and straightforward.

Acknowledge your mistakes:

At the same time, you must be open to acknowledging that errors and setbacks do happen sometimes. Unless you dwell on your mistakes and setbacks, there is no chance that they will make you a failure . Try to go beyond these by treating them as lessons learned and continue to be agile so that you can shift gears and move in the direction of positivity and success.

Never be afraid to say ‘no’:

Last but not least important – never be scared to say “no.” Voice your opinion fearlessly and boldly. When people ask too much of you, you should learn to say “no.” Never overextend yourself, as doing so will result in additional stress and keep you away from what is essential. At the same time, never be afraid to voice your views, especially when you disagree about something. Initially, you may have to face criticism for this, but eventually, it will help you gain more respect. What is most important is that you will start respecting yourself this way, which is vital for feeling empowered.

Whether you have just started your venture or have been running your business for several years, empowerment wields great power. Therefore, it is essential to embrace its potential so that you can mold your vision and achieve your dreams.
