Natalie Olson: Creating Wellness Through Awareness

An online search to remedy her mundane, unfulfilling life landed Natalie Olson with her purpose in life – coaching. Her inspiring journey includes the tragic loss of her best friend at a young age, the positive and negative ways she coped with the grief, and the steps she took to ultimately reach her current position. Founder and CEO of Waves of Change Coaching , Natalie , a life and wellness coach, is on a mission to help those who feel unfulfilled in their current life phase step into one they truly desire.

Despite growing up in a loving household and having a blissful childhood, fate hit Natalie hard, and the loss of her best friend changed everything for her. She went into survival mode and tried to cope with the pain using several methods, which probably helped at that time but were unhealthy and destructive at the core (like emotional eating, alcohol abuse, compulsive shopping, and mindless social media scrolling). A job after graduation also did not help her for long, as she felt stuck in the day-to-day routine. Hitting rock bottom soon enough, Natalie decided to take matters into her hands and enrolled in training to become a Health and Life Coach.

Finding Routine, Balance, and Joy

As a life and wellness coach, Natalie emphasizes the significance of daily routines, habits, and patterns in our overall well-being. She established Waves of Change Coaching to assist individuals, especially those who are burnt out and chronically stressed, in creating a new balance and sense of happiness. Natalie recognizes that change and healing take time and acknowledges that her own experience of the unpredictability of life has contributed to her purpose and motivation.

Natalie currently offers a 12-week transformative coaching program, either in a small group setting or as private 1:1 sessions, to individuals who have prioritized their career over their health and are now committed to making a change. While her coaching is most popular among women seeking a more free, balanced and fulfilled lifestyle, Natalie provides genuine transformation by delving into behavior, belief, and identity shifts. She guides her clients in creating habits and routines that relieve stress, boosts energy, and ultimately allow them to reclaim their personal power. With more energy, groundedness, and a sense of control, her clients can show up at work and in life feeling more passionate, secure, and brave than ever before.

Bringing Awareness and Mindfulness

Natalie encourages her clients to first understand what kind of life they want to be living. She starts by asking powerful clarifying questions so that they can get specific about what they truly desire, post which a plan is built backward. Although the end goals look different for every client, the first step is always the same - raising awareness and bringing mindfulness to current thoughts and behaviors. Change starts with assessing where they are right now but focuses on going into that with curiosity, not judgment and self-criticism. Falling back into old patterns is inevitable, but the important thing to remember is to keep challenging old beliefs and practice introducing new ones.

During her healing journey, Natalie tried to change all her habits by herself, and that did not get her anywhere. Hence, she stresses accountability and support (the two key components of changing habits) and feels that clients who invest in themselves by working with a coach or mentor of any kind will have a much higher chance of reaching their goals .

Gaining a Life of Balance

Natalie helps her clients overcome roadblocks by focusing on the small wins each week of their transformation journey. As they build new habits, they subconsciously reinforce their level of self-trust, and consistent action unlocks more potential along the way. Her biggest challenge as a coach is to find and execute balance in delivering empathy, support, and accountability. “I am my client’s biggest cheerleader and supporter, but I am also the person that keeps them grounded and on track with tough, honest feedback and love,” said Natalie.

We know that women need to pay more attention to wellness, given their daily stress. Natalie advises them to shift their bodies from a chronically stressed state to a relaxed one, as that is when they can heal, lose weight, balance their hormones, and feel more energetic and present in daily life. She believes that by focusing on one decision, one choice, and one habit at a time, life will transform into a place of resilience, growth, and radiating beauty.
