In today's society, finding a space where we can connect with our true selves and develop a sense of self-worth can be challenging. However, one entrepreneur has taken it upon herself to create a platform where individuals can do just that. By guiding people to strengthen their self-worth, this business owner aims to empower, educate, and support individuals to be their most authentic selves, heal from past wounds/trauma, and build an inclusive community where members can inspire each other. This is the story of a visionary, Kirsty Anne Richards, who turned a simple idea into a movement that is changing lives.
Kirsty Anne Richards ' journey began in the customer service industry, but it was a life-changing event that ultimately led her down the path of mental health advocacy and feminism. After seeing a therapist and pursuing a degree in psychology and gender/sexuality studies, Kirsty founded RedRoseThorns Ltd. Liability Co. to create a platform that promotes education, art, and self-care practices to help people with their mental health, human sexuality, and identity.
Exploring the Roots of a Visionary's Motivations
Kirsty has always had a passion for the arts, psychology, and sexuality/gender studies. Originally from South Africa, she moved to California at the age of 21 and spent 17 years living there. Currently, she is pursuing an MA in Gender, Sexuality, and Culture in the United Kingdom. With a BA in Psychology, Kirsty deeply understands human behavior and ways to enhance individuals' self-worth. Her double minor in gender studies further equips her to sensitively coach people through gender conflicts. As a feminist, writer, and mental health advocate, Kirsty sees these roles as interconnected, forming a foundation of mental health, walls of gender/sexuality, and a roof of self-care practices .
Empowering through Education and Self-Care: The Vision Behind Redrosethorns

Liability Co. is the belief that mental health, sexuality, and self-care practices are interconnected and vital for individuals to feel empowered and reach their fullest potential. Kirsty's Holistic Approach to Mental Health and Self-Care
Kirsty's philosophy is that our mental health is the foundation of our lives, while our gender and sexuality are the walls, and self-care practices are the roof. She believes that these roles are interconnected and that all of them need to be integrated into the services she offers. Her approach is helping people connect with themselves and their communities, and she finds publishing others' stories to be the most fulfilling part of her work.
The pandemic and its aftermath have led to a significant increase in mental health issues worldwide. Kirsty believes that the disconnection caused by the pandemic is a significant reason for the rise in mental health issues. She believes that humans need connection and community for their survival, and without them, people can experience extreme emotional pain that deeply impacts their overall mental health .
Teaching Mental Health Through a Feminist Perspective
Kirsty recognizes that the pandemic has affected women disproportionately and has caused a surge in mental health issues. As a mental health professional, she believes that women need to be empowered to take care of themselves and spread out the burden of caring for others' mental health. By taking a feminist perspective, Kirsty emphasizes the interconnectedness of gender, sexuality, and mental health and recognizes the societal influences that impact individuals. She believes that to achieve empowerment; people need to actively work on changes they want to make in their lives and learn about their environmental influences.
