“A lot of people wait for the perfect circumstances to start a business, but the truth is there will never be any perfect circumstances. I bet on myself ,” says Kyra Mitchell Lewis, Founder, CEO, and Career Coach at Glow Up, Gyrl .
The story of Glow Up, Gyrl is a true success story, and it all began in 2019 when Kyra embarked on a personal journey in therapy. At the time, Kyra was struggling to balance her personal and professional lives, and it was taking a toll on her well-being. But through therapy, she came to understand that she needed to set boundaries in order to thrive.
As her therapy journey progressed, she realized that she wanted to help other women who were struggling with similar challenges. And so, Glow Up, Gyrl was born. Today, the platform serves as a valuable resource for women seeking guidance on achieving their goals.
Glow Up, Gyrl podcast started as a series of episodes featuring women discussing their journeys to entrepreneurship. It expanded to include a career series focusing on specific career-related topics for listeners looking to grow.
In addition to its popular podcast, Glow Up, Gyrl offers personalized career coaching. The program, Go Getter , is a four-month career coaching program that begins with a comprehensive assessment to identify the client’s strengths and areas for improvement.
Once the assessment is complete, Kyra and the client engage in a 75-minute session to discuss the client’s goals. Based on their needs, Kyra’s clients typically fall into one of three categories. Some individuals are eager to progress within their current role and seek guidance on how to do so effectively. Others are content with their current position but want to explore opportunities for growth. Finally, some are unsure about their current career path and seek Kyra’s expertise in exploring new paths and transitioning into different fields.
Kyra’s personalized coaching program empowers clients to build a strong foundation for their careers and confidently achieve their professional goals. This can include discussing strategies for promotion or exploring new career paths for a smooth transition, “ I just want to say whether you are an entrepreneur or professional, you owe it to yourself to continue to discover the things about you that make you unique and don’t be afraid to let your light shine.”
Kyra emphasizes that her role as a coach is not to hold the client’s hand every step of the way. Instead, clients are accountable for their own progress, with Kyra serving as an accountability partner, cheerleader, and listener.
Once the coaching framework is established, clients can expect monthly private calls and unlimited access to Kyra through Boxer. This allows for ongoing support as clients work towards their goals.
Glow Up, Gyrl has recently launched a new product, the Glow Book . Available for purchase on its website for $20, the journal is designed to facilitate individuals in goal planning, providing a yearly planner for both personal and professional objectives.
The Glow Book features a vision board and vision pages that enable individuals to consolidate all their goals in one place. Furthermore, it offers prompts to assist in goal formation, along with pre-written goal formations located at the back of the journal. With its comprehensive and user-friendly format, the Glow Book is a valuable tool for anyone seeking to realize their aspirations.
Kyra is a passionate mental health advocate for women who utilizes her podcast platform to create insightful episodes on the subject. In one of her recent episodes, Kyra had the privilege of interviewing her own therapist, Dr. Cory, who shared valuable insights on the topic.
She strongly believes in the transformative power of therapy and actively supports it, recognizing the importance of eradicating the stigma that exists in some communities, particularly the African American community, where therapy can be unfairly perceived as a sign of weakness.
Kyra emphasizes that therapy provides individuals with the tools to heal and grow, so they can move forward without repeating past mistakes, “that’s why my company is called Glow Up because internally learn who you are, be at peace with who you are, let that light shine out to others and don’t let dim the light you have or what you have to share and give to the world. Glow Up, Gyrl!”
Through her work as a mental health advocate, Kyra hopes to create a more compassionate and empathetic society where individuals can feel comfortable and supported in their pursuit of better mental health .
Glow Up, Gyrl’s coaching services are currently available to clients worldwide. The virtual nature of the coaching sessions makes it much easier to accommodate clients from different geographic locations. It’s worth noting that Kyra’s podcast has garnered listeners from all over the world, thereby making it a truly global platform.
