Ways to Celebrate Women’s History Month 2022

Ways to Celebrate Women’s History Month 2022

Women’s History Month is an important time to celebrate the rich contributions made by women across the world to our lives and society. At the same time, it is the time to look into the past and remember the ordeals faced by women so that the present-day women are treated fairly and with respect. Like every year, this year also Americans will celebrate Women’s History Month in March. Here we present you with some ideas to help you celebrate the occasion better and in a meaningful way.

Ways to celebrate women’s history month 2022

Explore women’s plights and rights

This year’s theme for Women’s History Month is “Providing Healing, Promoting Hope.” It is a tribute to all women frontline workers and caregivers who went out of their way to offer help during the Covid-19 pandemic. At the same time, it is recognizing the various ways in which women of different cultures across the world have provided healing and hope all through history. So, if you are still not aware of women’s rights, it is the best time to learn about them.

Understand issues faced by women

Notwithstanding the fact that women have made great progress, they still face problems in some areas owing to gender bias. Even today, many women work harder than men both at home and workplace, face workplace discrimination and do not have equal representation in many fields. They are also victims of domestic violence, trafficking, sexual harassment, and rape. Therefore, it is important to understand the problems they still face.

Contribute to women’s cause

If you are really concerned about the plight of women and want to make a difference in their lives, support non-profit organizations that work for the benefit of women and girls. There are several small and big organizations that are working to empower women and girls. You may contribute in this cause on this Women History Month. Your contribution could go a long way in their progress. You may also organize a fund-raising event to help their cause.

Spread awareness on women's rights

Something that you can do easily to empower women and girls is to spread awareness about their plights and rights. You can use social media platforms, such as Facebook and Twitter, to make others aware of what they need to do to help and respect women. Share articles, inspiring quotes, videos, infographics, and women-centric content on your social media. At WomELLE, we have created lots of content, podcasts and social media posts to help you help women this Women’s History Month.

Mentor a girl or woman

Every year, numerous programs are organized on the occasion of Women’s History Month. You can participate in any of these programs and become a mentor for a girl or woman. When you become a mentor, you make a big commitment. At the same time, it creates a deep impact on society and proves to be highly rewarding for you as a mentor.

Read books on women’s history

If you want to make Women’s History Month really meaningful, you can learn about numerous great women who struggled hard to make life of modern women much easy. Ideally, you should read the biographies of women pioneers. You may choose to read the lives and works of Madam C.J. Walker, America’s first female billionaire, Amelia Earhart, one of the first ladies of aviation, or learn about the origins of women’s movement and suffragettes like Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton.

Watch films on women’s history

Another wonderful way of celebrating Women’s History Month this year could be watching films on women’s history. Some movies you can watch with boys and girls of older ages with a view to empower them, and support women’s cause include Anne Frank Remembered (1995), Amelia (2009), Girl Rising (2013), Radium Girls (2018), and so on.

What is, however, most important during Women’s History Month is a collaboration among people for a cause that was witnessed during the women’s suffrage movements.  You may use the entire month of March to share your thoughts with others and hold discussions on how you can support the cause of women.
